Respite Care

Your devotion is tireless, but you are not...

The Californian's Respite program may provide just what you and your elder loved one need - time to relax and rejuvenate. Not only does The Californian offer support to elders on a long-term basis, we also provide the same full range of services and amenities on a short-term basis. With The Californian's Respite program, family members who need some time away can be assured their elder loved ones are receiving appropriate support and assistance.

Designed for stays of a few days to several weeks, our short-term stays are perfect when family members are away on a vacation or business trip or require a short break from caring for the senior in their life. Short-term stays are also an option for seniors needing extra assistance after a hospital visit or during an illness.

Is Assisted Living the Answer?

The Californian's Respite program can also help families who are uncertain about whether or not an assisted living community is the answer for their loved one. We know that making decisions about selling a home, moving belongings and changing an elder's environment is challenging. The Californian's Respite program offers you the opportunity to sample our levels of service, taste our food and enjoy our activities before making a larger commitment to a new beginning in an assisted living community. Many of our permanent residents also began their lives with us by evaluating our community through short-term stays.

Hospice is a designed program that supports the recognition of death as the final stage of life. Hospice provides comfort care that focuses on the emotional, physical, and spiritual services to those residents and families with terminal illnesses. They emphasize palliative rather than curative treatment; quality rather than quantity of life. Professional medical care is given by hospice, and sophisticated symptom relief provided. The resident and family are both included in the care plan and emotional, spiritual and practical support is given based on the resident's wishes and family's needs. The nature of dying is so unique that the goal of the hospice team is to be sensitive and responsive to the special requirements of each individual and family.
